Famvir® (famciclovir) is an antiviral medication often prescribed to treat shingles, recurring cold sores, and recurring genital herpes. It has been shown to help improve symptoms quicker and prevent future outbreaks. Famvir comes in tablet form and is available in three different strengths. Before your healthcare provider prescribes you this drug, make sure he or she is aware if you are pregnant or have kidney disease, severe lactose intolerance, or any allergies.
