Is It Herpes or Another Medical Condition?

Before diagnosing genital herpes, healthcare providers will also consider other conditions that share similar signs or symptoms. Some of these conditions include:

Syphilis
Drug reaction
Scabies
Skin cancer
Psoriasis
Bechet's disease.

Certain conditions may also be mistaken for recurrent genital herpes. This includes:

Crohn's disease
Lichen sclerosus
Lichen planus
Recurrent candidiasis of the vulva.
