About Zovirax Cream

Zovirax® cream (acyclovir cream) is prescribed to treat cold sores in adults and adolescents age 12 and older. It works by preventing the virus that causes cold sores from multiplying. Your healthcare provider will tell you how long to apply the cream and how often.

Zovirax cream is to be used on the lips and skin of the face; do not eat it or apply it inside the mouth or nose. You should use disposable rubber, latex, or similar gloves when applying the product in order to prevent spreading the infection; otherwise, wash your hands thoroughly after applying it.
